Mohawk to Invest $8 Million in NC Weaving Plant, Add 100+ Jobs

Eden, NC, May 22, 2015—Mohawk Industries has announced an $8M investment in its Eden, North Carolina weaving plant and the resulting creation of over 100 jobs.

Almost 90 years after the first Karastan rug was produced at the facility, Mohawk is reinvigorating the location with investments in technology, equipment, infrastructure and new jobs that will make Eden a center of excellence in weaving across all of the Karastan brand’s business segments—including the residential, rug and commercial divisions—as well as producing woven collections for select specialized channels.

With this expansion, the company will now be able to create a wide variety of commercial products. For instance, Mohawk Group’s aviation carpets, which are used by most major airlines, as well as fine woven carpets designed for hotels, schools, healthcare facilities, office buildings and public spaces.
