Mohawk Plans to Consolidate Plants in SC and NC
Landrum, SC, May 29, 2015—Mohawk will close its Landrum, South Carolina plant and consolidate operations in Eden, North Carolina, according to GSA Business.
The company said in a news release Thursday that it will offer support to Landrum employees who are interested in relocating to Eden, and will help those employees who choose to stay transition into new careers in the area. The Landrum plant provides 151 jobs, and the closing will occur by early next year.
"For several years, Mohawk has operated three weaving facilities in three states, and consolidating those three plants into two is a necessary decision that will improve our manufacturing efficiencies as well as improve service and value for our customers,” said Joey Faircloth, Mohawk's senior vice president of manufacturing and operations.
