Mohawk Issues Two HPDs Under HPD Open Standard Version 2.0

Calhoun, GA, March 22, 2016—Mohawk Group has issued the industry’s first publicly disclosed Health Product Declaration (HPD)s under the new HPD Open Standard Version 2.0. for EcoFlex NXT modular commercial floor covering and EcoFlex NXT Air tufted modular cushion tiles.

These are the first of several HPDs that will be issued by Mohawk under the new Version 2.0 standard.

The HPD Open Standard was developed and is maintained by the HPD Collaborative, a non-profit, customer-led organization committed to the continuous improvement of the building industry’s environmental and health performance, through transparency and innovation in the building product supply chain. The HPD is an open standard that establishes a standard methodology and specification for reporting and disclosing information about the ingredients in a building product and their associated health information.

Mohawk Group has an extensive transparency portfolio, including HPDs, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Declare Labels. These initiatives are essential for helping architects, designers and end users make the right choice when specifying products that contribute to a healthy environment over their life cycle. The U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has also incorporated HPDs and EPDs into LEED V4, its most recent version of the popular LEED standard.

The EcoFlex NXT is a high-performance, red list free commercial modular floorcovering that consists of various styles, colors and patterns made with a nylon pile fiber layer and EcoFlex NXT recycled content backing.
