Mohawk Home Recalls Shag Rugs Over Fire Hazard

Calhoun, GA, Nov. 21, 2014 -- Mohawk Home has recalled 103,800 shag rugs made in India that were sold exclusively at Home Depot Inc. stores over a potential fire hazard.

The rugs were sold under the Altitude Gold name in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada from August 2013 to September 2014 for between $20 and $247, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The large rugs don't meet federal standards for flammability, the commission said.

The small rugs aren't required to meet federal flammability standards, but they don't warn against using the rugs near where flames are ignited as required.

No incidents of fire have been reported.
