Mohawk Announces Investment at Dalton Event

Dalton, GA, Dec. 6, 2013 – Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal on Friday attended an event at Mohawk’s industrial park yarn facility, where the company announced a $52 million investment in bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarn conversion equipment.

The twisting and heat setting equipment will be installed in three phases and ultimately result in 420 new jobs when it is completed in 2016.

In 2006, Mohawk shuttered the spun yarn facility at this location as demand declined due to the recession and as the industry started to shift to the more economical BCF yarn process.

Yarn that is converted at this plant is used to produce PET and Triexta carpet, which is manufactured in the adjacent carpet mill on the backside of the property, formerly a World Carpet plant.
