Manufacturing Output Falls in January

Washington, DC, Feb. 14, 2014 -- U.S. manufacturing output unexpectedly fell in January, according to the Federal Reserve.

Severe winter weather was blamed for the 0.8% decline last month, the largest decline since May 2009.

The drop in factory output and a 0.9% fall in mining spurred a 0.3% fall in overall industrial production, the biggest drop since April.
