J&J CEO Bethel Retiring at End of Year

Dalton, GA, Dec. 22, 2009--After 30 years of service to J&J Industries, CEO Jim Bethel will retire at the end of the year.

Bethel announced his retirement plans late in 2008, and following his retirement, he will continue service on the company’s board of directors as vice chairman.
 
Bethel, son-in-law to J&J co-founder Tom Jones, graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in economics. After serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, Bethel received his Juris Doctorate (Cum Laude) from the University of Georgia.

Upon graduating, he worked as the chief assistant district attorney of the Conasauga Judicial Circuit in Dalton for three years.  In 1979 Bethel joined the family business at J&J Industries and served as vice president of finance and administration.

 In 1999 he became president and COO, and in 2006, Bethel was named CEO and vice chairman of the Board.

“During his tenure as president and then as CEO, Jim has overseen significant growth in our company, including our strategic move into manufacturing modular carpet," said Chairman Jim Jolly.

Along with his duties at J&J Industries, Bethel has also given his time to many areas of the community.
