Invista Enacts Force Majeure on Adiponitrile and Hexamethylene Diamine

Wichita, KS, June 27, 2016—Invista informed customers on June 24 that it had invoked Force Majeure on adiponitrile (ADN) and hexamethlyene diamine (HMD) following an unspecified incident at its Victoria, Texas facility.

The force majeure will affect contracted customers and an allocation plan will be communicated directly to customers next week.

According to PCI’s Yellowbook, the Invista facility in Victoria has an ADN capacity of 403ktes/yr (39% of Invista’s total capacity and 22% of global capacity); as well as 200ktes/yr of HMD capacity (27% of Invista’s total capacity and 10% of global capacity).

Given the scale of these units, supply interruptions at Victoria have the potential to disrupt many PA66-based supply chains across the world.
