New Delhi, India, Oct. 8, 2010--India's carpet exports declined to $75.98 million in September, compared to $76.01 million in the same period last year on less demand from the U.S. and European markets.
Among the categories that have registered maximum growth are synthetic carpets, which grew by 12.80%, followed by silk carpets 11.26% and handmade woolen tufted carpets 5.16%..
During April-September 2010, the carpet exports grew by 18.37% to 302.39 million, compared to the same period last fiscal year.
The council expects carpet exports to grow by 25% to $650 million in 2010-11 compared to last year.
The U.S. and EU together account for nearly 70% of the country''s total carpet exports.
