House Prices Inch Higher in October

Washington, DC, Dec. 26, 2013 -- Home prices increased 0.5% in October from September, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said.

FHFA, which tracks federally-backed mortgages, said prices rose for the 21st straight month in the seasonally adjusted purchase-only index.

Home prices were also up 8.2% from a year ago. The index is still 8.8% below its April 2007 peak.
