Hardwood Demand Strong as Housing Improves

Charlotte, NC, July 8, 2013 -- In light of an improving real estate market, hardwood demand remains strong, and sawmills are increasing production where weather allows, according to the Hardwood Leader.

However, the publication said it does not expect the second half of the year to continue at the first-half pace.

"Cabinet sales have shown solid growth, but remodeling expenditures have fallen short of projections and residential construction growth has stalled," Hardwood Leader said.

"Flooring demand hasn’t let up, but manufacturers will soon fill inventories and feel less procurement pressure."
