Washington, DC, March 16, 2010--The International Code Council along with other groups has launched the International Green Construction Code.
The IGCC is a model building code intended to facilitate and accelerate the construction of green buildings in the U.S.. Public Version 1.0 of the IGCC was unveiled March 15 in Washington, D.C.
The launch represents the combination of two national movements to create enforceable green building requirements in the U.S.
The IGCC merges the ICC’s impact in all 50 states.
The IGCC code is meant to bring greater inclusivity and flexibility to green building, says Marie Coleman of USGBC.
Also listed as co-authors of the new code are the American Institute of Architects and the American Society for Materials Testing.
Within a year, however, the International Code Council is expecting to update the codes.
