San Jose, CA, July 17, 2012 – Hardwood flooring distributor Golden State Flooring has new ownership.
The firm, founded in the early 1920’s by Clifford Coates, has been acquired by investor Simon Shushan in collaboration with Allen Smith and Jason Grant, two former employees of J.E. Higgins Lumber Co.
Golden State Flooring was a division of Higgins.
According to a press release, the recession took a toll on Higgins, which began to wind down its operations this year.
Smith will serve as the company’s president, and Grant will serve as vice president.
The firm’s first two locations are in San Jose and San Diego.
