Washington, DC, Sept. 14, 2012 -- Rising gasoline prices pushed the cost of living in the U.S. in August by the most in more than three years, according to the Labor Department.
The 0.6% increase in the consumer-price index was the biggest since June 2009 and followed no change in July.
The increase matched economists' expectations.
The core index, which excludes volatile food and fuel costs, climbed 0.1% for a second month.
