Formation of NW GA Alliance for Innovation and Sustainability Announced

Dalton, GA, March 9, 2016--The Alliance for Innovation and Sustainability (AIS) is a non-profit organization founded to bring sustainability and Innovation to life in northwest Georgia.

In May 2014, the U.S. Department of Commerce designated the northwest Georgia region as one of 12 Manufacturing Communities through the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnerships program (IMCP).

The AIS began as a work group of IMCP but quickly expanded to be much more. The team wanted to create a platform for the sharing of best practices and the implementation of regional projects that would lead to the creation of the Northwest Georgia Center for Sustainable Floor Covering and Advanced Workforce Readiness.

Modeled after the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, the AIS is made up of corporations, academia and community leaders all working toward the common goal of northwest Georgia becoming a hub for sustainable innovation.

Founding members include Cargill, Dalton State University, Dalton Utilities, Mohawk Industries, Shaw Industries and Tandus Centiva.
