Factory Orders Edged Upward in July

Washington, DC, September 2, 2015—Orders to U.S. factories rose by 0.4% in July to $482 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

 

July’s small increase follows a more substantial rise in June of 2.2%.

 

Shipments, down three of the last four months, decreased by 0.2% to $483.6 billion.

 

Unfilled orders, up two consecutive months, increased 0.2% to $1,198 billion.

 

Inventories fell by 0.1% to $651.2 billion, following three consecutive increases.
