FCICA Offers Scholarships in Support of Its CIM Program

West Bloomfield, MI, May 12, 2015—The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) has created the Bruce Newbrough Memorial Scholarship in support of its CIM Program, a certification program for floorcovering installation managers.

Sponsored by Ardex Americas with the support of Nora Systems, the scholarship will support three floorcovering installation managers annually for the next five years.

Floorcovering installation managers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to excellence in proper substrate preparation and installation of floorcovering are encouraged to apply. The application process is open until June 1, and scholarships will be awarded in July.

The program involves eight learning modules and their related assessment tests: utilizing the estimate to establish and manage installation costs; planning the job; understanding contractual obligations; scheduling and assigning resources for installation; managing on-site conditions; managing change orders on-site; financial management, budget vs. actual; and closing out the job.

A scholarship is not required to participate. Fees for FCICA members are $1,225 and $1,570 for non-members, which includes the application fee.

Bruce Newbrough, who served as director of technical service and later in applications development at Ardex, and was instrumental in developing the CIM program. He passed away as the program was nearing completion.

Qualified floorcovering installation managers can apply at https://www.fcica.com/training-program/BruceNewbroughScholarshipForm_Fillable.pdf.
