Dwell on Design Offers New Show Feature for Emerging Designers

Dallas, TX, March 18, 2016—Dwell on Design has announced the addition of Prime Edition and Prototype to its 2016 Los Angeles line-up, June 24 to 26 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. An area of the show floor dedicated to up-and-coming product designers and undiscovered artists, Prime Edition and Prototype will lend a highly-vetted eye to what promises to shape modern design in the near future.

Dwell on Design LA attracts more than 30,000 professional architects, interior designers, retailers, and design enthusiasts each year. Featuring cutting-edge products and, on-stage conversations with thought leaders, this annual celebration of design provides an opportunity to interact with thousands of experts in the field of design.

Prime Edition will highlight custom work, limited edition collections of furniture, lighting, accessories, and fine art. Set amid a gallery-like ambiance, this “show-within-a-show” is a platform for designer-makers, industrial designers and artists to display their work in front of an international audience, media, and thousands of trend-seeking enthusiasts.

Prototype, an area within Prime Edition, will feature products not currently in production that address new ideas for the residential design market. Prototypes can promote both to-market and conceptual works. Items selected for Prototype will be part of a group exhibition, presented in a space together, at Dwell on Design LA.

The Prime Edition and Prototype section of Dwell on Design LA is selected by jury, making the chosen brands part of an elite group of innovators. The evaluation and selection criteria include quality of design, originality, innovation, use of materials, aesthetics and functionality. Entry is open to independent designers and artists, and will draw talent from coast to coast in disciplines that include furniture, lighting, textiles, surface design, wallcoverings, accessories, painting, photography and sculpture.

Participants in Prime Edition also receive the opportunity to have their work reviewed by a panel of industry leaders and design experts. Winners of the “Best Prime Edition Collection” and “Best Prototype” will receive complimentary exhibit space in their respective category for the following year.
