Durable Goods Orders Fall in August

Washington, DC, Sept. 25, 2014 -- Durable goods orders declined last month on weakness in the aircraft sector, according to the Commerce Department.

However, orders ticked up 0.7% outside of the volatile transportation category.

Overall orders fell 18.2% in August from the prior month. Economists expected durable-goods orders would fall 17.5% from July.

Orders rose 22.5% in July, revised down slightly from an initially reported 22.6% increase.
