Design Firm Creates Dust Mite Killing Rug for Asthma Sufferers

Eindhoven, NL, July 30, 2015—Netherland design firm Studio Siem & Pabon has invented the Fervent Carpet, a coiled throw rug that can be connected to radiator and heated to 140 degrees to kill dust mites. The product targets individuals suffering from acute asthma.

The Fervent Carpet is made of two lengths of textile-covered hose, arranged in a coil with a hose connect at the end. Every two months, the hose is attached to the radiator using the connecter, and hot water is blasted through the rug.

Though radiators are now rare in the U.S., they are a popular heat source in Europe.
