Consumer Spending Declines in September

Washington, DC, Oct. 31, 2014 -- U.S. consumer spending fell in September for the first time in eight months, according to the Commerce Department.

Meanwhile, personal income climbed by 0.2% in September.

The government said spending declined 0.2% last month, demand for goods fell while services barely rose.

Economists expected an increase of 0.1% in September.
