Consumer Sentiment Falls in March

Ann Arbor, MI, March 28, 2014 -- Consumer sentiment declined to a final March reading of 80 from 81.6 in February, according to the University of Michigan and Thomson Reuters survey.

The preliminary March reading was 79.9.

Economists had expected a final March level of 81.

"Current conditions in the overall economy were reported by consumers to have recently weakened, and long term prospects for the economy softened," survey director Richard Curtin said in a statement.
