Consumer Prices Jump Most in Over a Year

Washington, DC, June 17, 2014 -- U.S. consumer prices rose the most in more than a year in May, according to the Labor Department.

The government said the Consumer Price Index increased 0.4% last month, with food prices posting their biggest increase since August 2011.

The increase was the largest since February 2013 and above expectations for a 0.2% gain.

Over the last year, consumer prices increased 2.1%, the biggest rise since October 2012.
