Construction Spending Dips in September

Washington, DC, Nov. 3, 2014 -- U.S. construction spending fell for a second consecutive month in September, according to the Commerce Department.

The government said construction spending dropped 0.4% in September compared to August, when spending fell 0.5%.

A slight rebound in housing was offset by declines in nonresidential building and in government projects.

After four straight monthly declines, housing construction edged up 0.4% in September but nonresidential building fell 0.6%.

Government construction fell 1.3% as spending on projects at the federal and state and local levels declined.
