China-Based Wonderful Group Building Ceramic Facility in Tennessee

Lebanon, TN, November 5, 2015—The China-based Wonderful Group—a division of Marco Polo, which is the largest producer of ceramic tile in China—will invest $150 million to build a ceramic tile manufacturing plant in Lebanon, Tennessee.

This marks the first investment in the U.S. from a Chinese ceramic tile manufacturer.

The 500,000 square foot facility is expected to be operational in late 2016.

The Wonderful Group’s plant will bring the total number of ceramic tile plants in Tennessee to six: two U.S.-based companies, Crossville, which was first, and Daltile; Italian firms Florim, StonePeak Ceramic and Del Conca; and Wonderful Group.

Marco Polo--which is based in Dongguan City and was founded in 1996--produces matte, lappato and polished porcelain tile; interior wall tile; and artificial grain decorative tile.

Much of Marco Polo’s U.S. business is with the home centers.
