Chicago PMI Sees Biggest Increase in 30 Years

Chicago, IL, Oct. 31, 2013 -- The Chicago purchasing managers index rose to 65.9% in October, marking its best performance since March 2011 and its biggest gain in 30 years.

Economists had expected the Chicago PMI to fall from 55.7% in September. It's a measure of manufacturing activity in the Chicago area.

Any reading above 50 indicates expansion.
