CAP Carpet Designs New Retailing Strategy

Wichita, KS, May 29, 2013 – CAP Carpet has rolled out what it calls The Floor Project, a new way of selling floorcovering at retail.

Owner Aaron Pirner, a veteran of some of the most well known names in retailing, including Carpet One, ProSource, and The Floor Trader, decided to come up with his own store concept based on customer feedback on the whole experience of shopping for floorcovering—the good and the bad.

Customers will see everything from custom racks to oversize flooring samples that they can take home, and a new kind of lighting designed to show flooring as it will actually look in a home. They’ll also be able to use technology to see how flooring will look in a room based on a photo a customer supplies.

The store even provides activities for children.

Beyond that, it’s also a new business model that includes having its own buyers, and selling a diverse selection of private label products.

CAP Carpet is the 13th largest flooring retailer in the country. The company was started by Aaron’s father, La Vone, in 1967.
