Washington, DC, Feb. 19, 2013 -- Home builder confidence declined in February, according to the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index.
It was the first decline since April, due mostly to economic uncertainty and strict lending standards.
The index ticked down to 46 in February from 47 in January. Analysts had expected a February result of 48.
Readings above 50 indicate more builders see sales conditions as good than poor.
