Armstrong Raising Freight Charges on Flooring

Lancaster, PA, Oct. 27, 2014 -- Armstrong said it will raise its freight shipping charges for commercial and residential flooring by an average of 5%, effective Dec. 1.

The company cites the record amounts of freight and a continued, national driver shortage, which have caused significant inflationary pressures on transportation networks despite the moderations in fuel costs.

“The North American trucking industry continues to be challenged by unprecedented conditions.  Carriers are passing on rate increases to Armstrong, and while we continue our best efforts to mitigate costs wherever possible, we are no longer in a position to keep absorbing these increases,” said Dominic Rice, vice president of commercial flooring products.
