Aquafil Partners with Levi Strauss to Produce Jeans from Econyl

Trento, IT, April 19, 2016—Aquafil has announced a new partnership between its Econyl brand and Levi Strauss & Co. to create a new men’s collection made from regenerated nylon from waste materials such as fishing nets and spent carpets.

Looking into the future, there’s no guarantee that there will be enough land available to meet global demand for cotton, the main input for the denim apparel. So to be a successful company in a world that is increasingly resource-constrained, Levi’s need to continue down the road toward achieving closed-loop apparel—while incorporating other alternatives to virgin raw materials.
