Annual Home Prices Increase Most Since 2006

New York, NY, Jan. 29, 2013 -- Single-family home prices rose in November and year-over-year prices were up the most since 2006, according to the S&P/Case Shiller composite index.

The gauge of 20 metropolitan areas gained 0.6% in November on a seasonally adjusted basis and prices in the 20 cities rose 5.5% year over year.

"Housing is clearly recovering," David Blitzer, chairman of the index committee at S&P Dow Jones Indexes, said in a press release.
