Surfaces Preview - December 2011

This will be the second year that Surfaces, the flooring industry’s top trade show for residential products, will be held at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The show will run from January 24 to 26, and, for the second year, it will partner with StonExpo|Marmomacc, under the S2 name. There are 50 new companies exhibiting at S2 2012, and both Mannington and Milliken are returning to the show floor.
At this year’s show, Floor Focus and 3M will honor the Future Focus contest winners. The Future Focus awards were created to recognize excellence among rising, career-minded professionals in all areas of the floorcovering industry. Winners will be announced at an honorary breakfast, and a booth on the show floor will feature profiles of each of the winners. Details for this contest are available online.
The show’s Designer Day and Trends Hub are again sponsored by Floor Focus. Designer Day will take place on Wednesday. Speakers for the design event include Victoria Redshaw, lead trend forecaster at Scarlet Opus; Antonio Ballatore, winner of HGTV’s Design Star and host of The Antonio Treatment; and Mark Woodman, president of the Color Marketing Group. The Trends Hub offers an expansive preview of 2012’s hottest products, colors and textures, inspired by the year’s trend forecast and provided by exhibiting companies.
In addition, the New Product Showcase, absent in 2010, will return to the show floor as New Product Marketplace. And this year’s Surfaces will include S2 Cash Attacks and grand prize giveaways, in which attendees can win cash prizes.
